Food Technology Profile

History

The establishment of the Food Technology Study Program is inseparable from the dynamics of the Faculty of Agricultural Industrial Technology (FTIP). FTIP was inaugurated on September 13th, 2005, based on the Decree of the Rector of the University of Padjadjaran number 1520/J06/Kep/Kp/2005. FTIP was born from an increase in the Department of Agricultural Technology (TEKNOTAN) of the Faculty of Agriculture, Padjadjaran University, located on the Padjadjaran University campus, Jatinangor.

Before 1983, there was a Department of Agricultural Product Technology and a Department of Agricultural Mechanization at the Faculty of Agriculture. Later through a Decree (SK) of the Director-General of Higher Education number 134/Dikti/Kep/1984, the two departments were merged into the Department of TEKNOTAN, one of six majors in the Faculty of Agriculture, Padjadjaran University. The TEKNOTAN Department has three study programs, namely: (i) Agricultural Product Technology Study Program; (ii) Agricultural Equipment and Machinery Study Program; and (iii) Soil and Water Engineering Study Program. In 1985, the domicile of the Faculty of Agriculture moved from the Padjadjaran University campus in Bukit Dago (North Bandung) to the Jatinangor campus, Sumedang district, West Java. On July 11st, 1996, through the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture Number: 217/DIKTI/Kep/1996, the Agricultural Product Technology study program was changed to the Food Technology Study Program, while the Agricultural Equipment and Machinery Study Program and the Soil and Water Engineering Study Program were merged into the Agricultural Engineering Studies.

The increasing status of the Department of Agricultural Technology to become the Faculty of Agricultural Industrial Technology in 2005 had implications for changes in the organizational structure and name of the Department, namely the Department of Agricultural Industrial Engineering and Management (TMIP) with its Agricultural Engineering (TEP) study program, and the Food Industry Technology Department (TIP) with its study program Food Technology (TPN). In 2014 there was a new study program, namely the Agricultural Industrial Technology Study Program, as part of the TMIP Department.

Until 2008 Padjadjaran University was a State University with a centralized (state) financial management system, and since 2008 through the Decree of the Minister of Finance No. 260/ICMK.05/2008 dated September 15th, 2008, the financial management of Universitas Padjadjaran follows the Public Service Agency (BLU) system. The change in the financial management system was followed by changes in the Organization and Work Procedure of the University of Padjadjaran based on the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 46 of 2013 dated April 11, 2013, which was followed by the Rector’s Regulation of the University of Padjadjaran No. 1 of 2014 concerning Education Management at Padjadjaran University.

Through Government Regulation No. 80 of 2014, dated October 17, 2014, Padjadjaran University was designated as a Legal Entity State University (PTNBH), followed by the Rector’s Regulation of the University of Padjadjaran No. 70 of 2015 dated 11 September 2015 concerning Organization and Management of Padjadjaran University.

Based on the Decree (SK) of BAN-PT Number: 2728/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/S/XI/2016, the Food Technology Study Program obtained Accreditation A. Since August 1, 2009, FTIP has received ISO 9001:2008 with certificate number ID09 /1367 in “Education Services including Design curriculum & Lecture material, Teaching and Learning,” as the first faculty at Padjadjaran University.
